Description
PE Uncut is a distinctive member of the legendary Penis Envy family, recognized for its unusual veil structure and its important role in the history of modern genetics. The variety emerged during the breeding work of renowned mycologist John Workman, who was exploring new genetic combinations by pairing Penis Envy with PF Albino. Along the way, he identified an unusual phenotype that would eventually become known as PE Uncut.
What makes PE Uncut unique is its tendency to retain its protective veil well beyond the stage where most cubensis varieties separate from the cap. Instead of opening early during development, the veil often remains attached as the mushroom matures, giving the fruiting body its characteristic appearance and inspiring the name “Uncut.”
PE Uncut displays the robust features that have made the Penis Envy lineage so recognizable. It commonly develops thick, dense stems and compact caps with a sculpted, almost oversized appearance. Mature specimens frequently exhibit pronounced blue bruising and can range from creamy white to light tan in coloration, with some isolates showing subtle olive or bluish hues as they mature.
Beyond its distinctive morphology, PE Uncut holds an important place in mycological history. It represents one of the significant selections discovered during the breeding project that ultimately led to the creation of Albino Penis Envy (APE). As a result, PE Uncut is often regarded as an important stepping stone in the development of one of the most influential modern designer genetics.
