Description
Chocolate Gumby is a distinctive hybrid developed by renowned mycologist Dave Wombat, combining his celebrated Gumby genetics with the unique characteristics of El Choco. This pairing brings together two of Dave Wombat’s most recognizable genetic lines, resulting in a cultivar that expresses the thick, robust structure of the Melmak family alongside the rich pigmentation and unusual morphology inherited from El Choco.
Chocolate Gumby is known for producing dense, heavy fruiting bodies with thick stems and broad caps that range from warm caramel to deep chocolate brown. Many specimens display the rugged, sculptural appearance that has become a hallmark of the Gumby lineage, while El Choco contributes darker coloration and the occasional expression of unique cap textures and other distinctive phenotypes. The result is a visually striking cultivar that stands apart from more conventional varieties.
